โWe will be closing out doors and ceasing operations on July 27, and we will be moving out on July 31,โ explained Ralph Sharp, the branch manager of the Bristol Borough location. โWe will still have a presence here,โ concluded Sharp.
Plans for the new location have the location running at full force by September 1. The facility will still be around in August, however, โWe are going to try and run some programs in August,โ said Sharp when asked about a possible absence of the Y.
The new location, the senior center at 301 Wood Street will offer an array of activities for youth and families to enjoy. Some of the activities that will be available include group exercise, meaning Zumba classes, karate for kindergarten age kids, and soccer, floor hockey, and basketball for the youth.

โThere is a need here, and we want to fulfill that need,โ started Sharp, when talking about the new location and what it means to stay in the area. Sharp defined that need as โcommunity outreach; offering programs that they [youth in the area] would not usually get to experience, like swimming.โ
โThe senior center is the root of the ‘Y,’ we’re going back to our roots,โ concluded Sharp.
