Over the weekend, a 12-year old Fairless Hills boy reeled in the catch of the day.
Nicholas Rush was fishing at the canal in Yardley at the Towpath and caught a pickerel
with a lure, which according to his father Bob Rush is sort of rare.

Nicholas was proud of what he hooked but was also beaming because of the lure technique he used to reel in the fish.
“He yelled ‘ Mom – Dad I caught a pickerel using a lure!’ The smile on his face went ear to ear,” Bob Rush said in an E-mail exchange Tuesday.
The family fishes often, said Bob, explaining how his son’s interest in fishing began. He added the teen has been been fishing since he was 3 and the family goes about five times a week.
Pickerel, Bob Rush said, are generally caught with live bait, not lures, especially one as big what Nicholas caught.
