A veteran Tullytown officer pulled over Thompson on Pinewood Drive early Sunday morning. The 40-year-old man was allegedly spotted speeding in his green Ford truck on Levittown Parkway and was suspected of being intoxicated. The officer noted in court papers that Thompson was “very argumentative” when asked if he had drank.
According to police, the officer was running the name Thompson gave him, which turned out to be fake, and saw the door to the man’s vehicle open. The officer then reportedly went to tell the man to stay put and he took off.
Thompson ran and the officer followed on foot, warning Thompson multiple times to stop or he would use his Taser. “Don’t tase me,” the suspect yelled. The officer fired his Taser after several multiple attempts and one of the two probes missed the 40-year-old suspect, which meant the weapon had no effect.

“The driver was facing me and lunged onto me, knocking both of us to the ground, my upper half was on grass, the lower back area hit the curb, and my legs were in the street, I had the full body weight of the driver on top of me,” the officer wrote in court papers.
The fight continued and Thompson was able to grab the officer’s Taser. The officer laid on his firearm to protect the man from getting it, according to police. The officer was able to regain the Taser and strike Thompson in the head “as hard as I could three times,” court papers read.

Thompson was able to grab the Taser again and run, police said.
The officer wrote in court papers:
I was able to corner the driver on the property of 31 Pinewood Dr., at the ending of their carport, nearest the house. I unholstered my duty weapon and pointed it at the driver and advised him that I would shoot him if he doesnt drop the taser, I was ready to employ deadly force, when I noticed the spent cartridge was still in the taser x26 and from that distance, posed no threat to me, however, If the the driver advanced towards me, I would of fired my duty weapon.
Thompson reportedly threw the Taser over a fence and tried to run. Police said they were able to detain Thompson and take the “extremely combative” 40 year old into custody.
