A Bristol Township man who “accidentally” shot his girlfriend waived charges in that case to Doylestown on Tuesday.

Brian McDuffie, 30, of Bristol Township, waived a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm early Tuesday morning. McDuffie’s public defender said the gun case will be consolidated with a December simple assault case. She added that McDuffie will likely plead guilty when the case gets to Doylestown.

The 28-year-old woman who was shot told police McDuffie, her boyfriend, fired the gun and a bullet struck her while he was showing the weapon to her in the bathroom of an apartment in the Royal Park Apartments on Haines Road.
Police said they arrived and found the woman on the ground and suffering from “extreme pain.” The woman survived the shooting.
Investigators learned an officer delivered a subpoena to the woman about two hours before the shooting at 7:50 p.m., according to court papers. The woman was to testify against McDuffie in an assault case.

When speaking with detectives, McDuffie said he was showing his girlfriend the .38 revolver when it “accidentally” went off. He added that he hid the gun in a trashcan on South Kenwood Drive in Bristol Township’s Levittown section, according to court papers.
As part of the upcoming aggravated assault case, McDuffie is not supposed to live with his girlfriend, police said. He is accused with assaulting her in December 2013.
