Robert Brown of Manalapan, N.J., according to police, first threw a ceramic candle holder at a woman early Friday morning in an apartment in the 900 block of West Trenton Avenue in Falls Township. He then pulled out a large knife that was hidden under a bed and began to threaten the woman, police said.

“It was at this point that the defendant struck the victim’s television, which was located on a dresser in the bedroom. The television sustained disabling damage as a result of the defendant’s actions,” Officer Bryan Detrick wrote in court papers.

Brown is also accused of taking the woman’s cell phone and attempting to damage it so she couldn’t call 9-1-1.

The woman suffered bruising and swelling in the knee where the candle holder Brown threw at her struck, according to court papers.
