Veteran ‘Heroes’ Honored at Tullytown Memorial Day Parade

Relating the story of a serviceman being thanked by a member of the community, Parade Grand Marshal Rich Heart shared the quiet humility of that veteran when he refused to accept the “thanks’ of the community member.

“Sir, we will choose who are heroes,” he said.

Saturday, Tullytown choose to honor area veterans with its annual Memorial Day Parade.

Heart was surrounded by honor guards from the U.S. Marines, proud members in fatigues of the Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans (DVIII) group and the Warrior Watch Riders. Heads were held high as pride was unfurled in the colors of red, white, and blue Saturday. His speech touched themes of sacrifice, honor, valor, and war.

Children smiling as the parade procession made its way through the soul of Tullytown to the observable catharsis of  Fox as words of valor sought expression with  images of friends lost passed through his minds eye, wincing at the pain.

“Our freedom is directly tied to those men and women (in the armed forces) who are more than willing to risk their lives,” State Rep John Galloway (D-Bucks) said during his comments yesterday.

The thought provoking emotion stirring ceremony in front of the Tullytown Municipal Building was a somber remembrance for veterans current and past.

First responders from throughout the county were on display with a motorcade going on as far as the eye could see prior to the ceremonies in front of the municipal building.

“I thought it was a great small town parade,” said Tullytown Mayor David Cutchneal

Editors Note: An earlier version of this story misidentified Grand Marshal Rich Hart as Rick Fox.

We apologize for the error to Mr Heart.
