A Chalfont man has been picked to lead the largest portion of Buck County’s workforce.
Jonathan E. Rubin will was named the director of Human Services, which oversees Area Agency on Aging (AAA), Children & Youth Social Services Agency, Health Department, Mental Health/Developmental Programs, Neshaminy Manor and Behavioral Health, at this week’s Bucks County Commissioners’ meeting.

“Jon has a very strong background in human services, and we are looking forward to his addition to the county,” said Bucks County Chief Operating Officer Brian Hessenthaler. “We feel he will be a valuable member of our administrative team.”
The county outlined Rubin’s background in a press release:
The new director is no stranger to Bucks County government. A 1987 graduate of Penn State University, he spent almost two years as a social worker for the Bucks County Children & Youth Social Services Agency (1990-92), nearly nine years as a child protective services supervisor at the agency (1992-2001), and almost four years as a child protective services manager (2001-2005). He also earned a Masters Degree in Social Work at Temple University (May, 1990).
Most recently, Mr. Rubin served as a senior consultant for Deloitte Touche Consulting, LLP of Philadelphia. In that capacity, he managed the Subject Matter Expert Team for Pennsylvania’s Child Welfare Information solution project and Pennsylvania’s Enterprise to Link Information to Children Across Networks project.
Rubin starts his new job on May 19 at a salary of $104,000.

Hessenthaler most recently served as acting director of Human Services.
