Child Porn Charges Against Former Teacher Moved to Trial


A former New Hope Academy teacher waived charges of possessing child pornography, dissemination of photos/film of child sex acts and criminal use of a communications facility before a scheduled preliminary hearing could take place.

Eric Gana, 37, of Levittown, is accused of downloading illicit images to a computer located at a home on Trellis Road in Middletown.

As LevittownNow.com reported in March, members of the Middletown and Penndel police departments executed a search warrant on Gana’s home. Additional images of child pornography were discovered on computers in the home, police said.

Gana admitted during an interview to downloading and viewing child pornography on computers located in the home, according to court papers.

Gana taught digital photo and video production at New Hope Academy, which has locations in Yardley and Doylestown. Parents of students told LevittownNow.com that Gana worked the week leading up to his arrest.

Penndel Chief of Police Joseph Sciscio, a member of the FBI’s Crimes Against Children Task Force, told LevittownNow.com on Wednesday that a search of Gana’s work computer turned up “nothing criminal. The chief said police are still looking at potential evidence gathered at the home.

Gana and is currently free after posting 10 percent of $10,000 bail.

New Hope Academy is a private school teaches students from grades six through 12 and specializes in “non-traditional education,” according to their website.
