Bristol Fire Company Receives FEMA Grant


It was announced last week that the America, Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company No. 2 in Bristol Borough was awarded a federal grant, which will enhance the safety of firefighters and the community they serve.

Fire company President Jay McCay as well as Deputy Chief David Pearlย  joined Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick and the Bristol community to announce the grant for the company, according to a release.

The competitive grant of $137,500 was awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and will be used to replace the companies self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA), officials said.

โ€œThis grant allows us to make critical equipment upgrades that will undoubtedly improve the safety of our firefighters and will enhance our ability to minimize the loss of life and property,โ€ said McCay, stressing the importance of equipping firefighters with new SCBA devices.

โ€œIt is critical that our first responders have the tools necessary to protect our community,โ€ Fitzpatrick said.ย  โ€œWith these new air packs for the volunteer firefighters in Bristol, we can have confidence that they will be protected while saving lives.ย  I am proud to stand with and support first responders like those here in Bristol who put their lives on the line every day to help others.โ€
