Carry The Load is in its third year of a trek across America in an effort to remind the country what Memorial Day is all about. The initiative made up of several teams across the United States consists of a 2000 mile journey during the span of 27 days. On Thursday, it passed through Langhorne making a stop at the Langhorne Fire House on Maple Avenue.

This 2,000 mile relay which began in West Point and ends in Dallas, provides an opportunity for Americans to walk for 27 days to remember, honor, and celebrate out nation’s heroes. The team sleeps on bunks in a tour style bus to recover during the strenuous journey, showering at local firehouses along their path.

Entrepreneur and Businessman, as well as Executive Producer of the National Relay, ย Mark ‘Dill’ Driscoll says he became involved in the initiative because he loves making a difference in peoples lives. “This is all about the dead guys and gals who have given the ultimate sacrifice,” he said. “Ya know people wonder how we can defeat terrorism. A terrorist blows up a building and a natural instinct is to run away, this is all about celebrating those real true Americans, the kind that fight terrorism by running towards the burning building.”

Anyone can join in the National Relay at any point along the route and walk for as long as they would like. The purpose of this relay is to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by connecting Americans to the sacrifices of our military, law enforcement, firefighters and rescue personnel.
