The grocery shopping experience at the ShopRite in Bristol Township will likely be changing soon.

At last Thursday’s Bristol Township Council meeting, a liquor license transfer was approved. The license will be transferred from Tinicum Township to Brownโs FH LCC, which operates the ShopRite on South Oxford Valley Road in the Fairless Hills section of town.

Mark E. Kozar, Brown’s attorney, said the transfer is not “new or unusual.”
Council voted 6-1 in approving the resolution, with Councilman Joe Glasson voting no.ย
“ShopRite is a very respected business in our community and with this it’ll create jobs and bring in added revenue,” Councilman John Monahan said.

Township solicitor Randy Flager said a public hearing for approval of the transfer is required ย before council to assure the added liquor license wouldnโt alter the quality of life for township residents.
The ShopeRite in Fairless Hills will be adding a 36-seat cafe to the store. The cafe will serve food, beer and win. Some of the items including food and beer will be available for takeout, Kozar told the board. He added theย cafe will be located at the front left of the supermarket with a separate entrance.

โIt will be a safe, secure place for customers, which 70 percent are women, to purchase prepared food and a six-pack of beer to take home,โ Kozar said. โThis is not the type of place where people are going to come and hang out to drink.โ
It was noted during the meeting that the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has approved liquor licenses for nearly 200 grocery store restaurants over the last half dozen years. The addition of a beer sales in grocery has grown in the state in recent years.
