A man charged in a Bristol Township motorcycle DUI crash that left a woman seriously injured had two minor charges dropped and waived the more serious ones to trial.
John Lewis Adams, 24, of Bensalem, had charges of failure to stop at a red light and careless driving withdrawn, according to court staff. Before District Judge Joanne Kline, he waived charges including aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and aggravated assault by vehicle to Doylestown.

Adams is accused of having a blood alcohol level of .20 – the state legal limit is .08 – when he drove his 1993 Yamaha Virago through a red signal at the intersection of Veterans Highway and Western Avenue in around 3:10 a.m. in late June. The motorcycle ended up hitting a Volkswagen Jetta as it waited to turn, police said.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the 25-year-old motorcycle passenger, a Pennington, N.J. woman, was thrown from the back of the bike and landed on the roadway.
The woman received numerous life-threatening injuries in the wreck, police said. At the time of the crash, LevittownNow.com reported the woman was unconscious when police showed up at the scene.

Adams reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash. Police also noted there were no signs the motorcycle attempted to stop in the moments leading up to the crash.
Adams is currently free on his own recognizance.
