A man involved in Thursday morning’s serious crash in Bristol Township has passed away, according to police.
The man – identified as an 85-year-old Levittown resident – was freed by firefighters and taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown by the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad after his 1996 Buick Century was hit by a 2006 Oshkosh cement mixer. Efforts to save the man’s life failed and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The concrete truck was headed south Edgely Road in the Levittown section and the Buick was heading east on Goldenridge Drive when the two vehicles intersected and the truck crushed the car at 8:52 a.m., police said. What caused the crash remains under investigation by the Bristol Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
The driver of the truck is a 52-year-old Philadelphia man. Police reported he did not suffer serious injury and is cooperating with investigators. Bystanders at the scene told LevittownNow.com the driver looked distraught following the crash.
Edgely Road was closed between Red Cedar Drive and Gardenia Road until 12:30 p.m.

Police said they were assisted at the scene by the Bristol Township Fire Police, Bristol Township Fire Marshal’s Office, Edgely Fire Company, Fairless Hills Fire Company, Falls Township police, Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad and Levittown Fire Company No. 2.
