Summers is accused of stabbing his girlfriend 18 times as their 6-day-old baby lay steps away. He then went into the living room of the B-building apartment and stabbed his girlfriend’s mother 22 times after she became concerned following a scream from her daughter, according to court papers.

The attack only stopped when the 19-year-old heard the cell phone that belonged to his girlfriend’s mother ring. He grabbed the phone, told her he didn’t want to live and asked her for “all her pills,” according to police.

The daughter closed the bedroom door and managed to escape out an apartment window and go to the A building for help, court papers say.

Police arrived and took Summers, who was bleeding from numerous self-inflicted stab wounds, into custody outside the apartment buildings. He implied, according to police, that he wanted to kill himself. Authorities say he ingested a number of pills.

The attack is believed by police to have started after Summers and his girlfriend began having a conversation that angered him. At that point, he began mumbling to himself, “Why do you have to make me so angry?”  according to court paperwork.

When police spoke with the mother, she said Summers’ told her “I love her but I can’t stand her with anyone else.”
