A mother and daughter are lucky to be alive after a violent stabbing Friday night.
Police said late Saturday night that Roy Summers, 19, is the man who stabbed the two Friday around 8:15 p.m. in the apartment he shared with them at the Pennsbury Woods complex in the 9000 block of New Falls Road in Falls Township.

Summers is accused of stabbing his girlfriend 18 times as their 6-day-old baby lay steps away. He then went into the living room of the B-building apartment and stabbed his girlfriend’s mother after she became concerned following a scream from her daughter, according to court papers.
The attack only stopped when the 19-year-old heard the cell phone that belonged to his girlfriend’s mother ring. He grabbed the phone, told her he didn’t want to live and asked her for “all her pills,” according to police.
While her mother was suffering from numerous stab wounds chest and neck, the daughter closed the bedroom door and managed to escape out an apartment window and go to the A building for help, court papers say.

The attack is believed by police to have started after Summers and his girlfriend began having a conversation that angered him. At that point, he began mumbling to himself, “Why do you have to make me so angry?” according to court paperwork.
Summers then took the baby from his girlfriend and placed the child in a bassinet. Shortly after, he turned off the lamp lighting the room. Only a television set illuminated the bedroom, court papers read.

Summers’ girlfriend tried to leave. He pushed her down and she landed on her stomach. At that point, he jumped on top of her and began punching her in the back of the head, according to court papers.
The punches lead to him stabbing her with a “sharp object, police said. He stopped once her mother asked if everything was alright. From there, he stood over his bleeding girlfriend and walked into the living room to attack her mother, court papers say.

When police spoke with the mother, she said Summers’ told her “I love her but I can’t stand her with anyone else.”
All three were taken to trauma centers. The mother and daughter are expected to survive, Lt. Hank Ward told LevittownNow.com.
Police officers and detectives searched the grass around the apartment complex late Friday night. It is unclear as of press time whether the “sharp object” Summers used to attack the two women has been recovered.
