The Langhorne Carpet Company in Penndel is giving away free wool yarn Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The company, located on West Lincoln Highway, is working to get rid of two tons of the “finest grade wool” from Britain and New Zealand. The legendary carpet mill was unable to use the yarn because of the work stoppage from the fire last summer. The company owner told LevittownNow.com recently the yarn did not suffer any fire or smoke damage.

The wool will be provided to “individual artisans and charitable organizations โ from social service agencies to schools โ which share in common their love of textiles and weaving for a good cause,” a press release from the company reads.
โOur expertise is weaving wonderful Jacquard Wilton carpets for homes and historic sites worldwide,โ Bill Morrow, president of Langhorne Carpet Company, explained. โWe paused when the adjuster said part of our re-start plan involved restocking our wool inventory despite the fact that not one yard of fiber was in the fire. We never considered a landfill to be a suitable distribution site for this precious natural resource.โ
The company is the originator of the โCarpets of Caringโ program to benefit a wide range of charities.
