Police around the area were on alert Friday afternoon following a report of a kidnapping.
A man and woman, both in their thirties, were leaving the 7-Eleven along West Lincoln Highway in Penndel around 1 p.m. when a woman announced she was being kidnapped, Penndel Chief of Police Joseph Sciscio said.

A good Samaritan became concerned when they heard the woman say she was being kidnapped and dialed 9-1-1., Sciscio said. The concerned citizen followed the car as it went through Langhorne, Middletown and Lower Southampton.
Sciscio told LevittownNow.com the couple accused of the hoax became worried when they saw the good Samaritan following them.
Police were able to talk to the couple after they pulled into a driveway on North Buckthorne Avenue in Middletown. At that point, Sciscio said they determined there was no kidnapping.

A Middletown law enforcment official said there was no police chase of the vehicle, as a social media report stated.
Sciscio said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and no charges have been filed as of press time.
