Langh0rne-based State Rep. Frank Farry, a Republican, announced his bid for reelection before a packed room of supporters and local officials inside the Upper Southampton municipal building Wednesday night.
Despite icy roads, about two dozen people came out to support the lawmaker, who was first elected to his seat in 2008.

Farry, as of press time, appears to be running unopposed in the May primary for his seat, which is up for election every two years.
“I’m a local boy, born and bred,” Farry told the crowd.
Farry said he decided to announce his campaign in Upper Southampton because it will become part of the 142 district that he represents starting in January 2015.

Here’s some background:
State representatives’ districts will change come the new year as part of redistricting that comes every 10 years. As part of the change, Farry’s district will lose parts of Middletown’s Levittown section and all of Hulmeville and Penndel. His district will gain all of Upper Southampton and the remaining part of Lower Southampton he does not currently serve. The current redistricting change was held up in the courts for several years.
As part of his work to get to know his new district – barring whether he wins reelection – he has been knocking on doors in Upper Southampton. It’s something he said he plans to start up again come warmer weather. Farry is known is the Langhorne and Levittown area for attending many community events and often meeting with constituents.

Bucks County Commissioner and Upper Southampton resident Charlie Martin said he supports Farry, citing the Neshaminy High School graduate’s background in law, government and public safety.
State Rep. Scott Petri, who currently serves part of Upper Southampton and other nearby communities, introduced Farry at the event.
Citing the opportunities his mother afforded him, Farry, an only child, thanked her for all her hard work as a single mother. He also said he planned to continue to work hard for taxpayers.
