Concerned residents called police and humane officials earlier this week over five dogs left tethered outside a Levittown home in Middletown.
Officials from Middletown and the Bucks County SPCA all tell LevittownNow.com the five dogs who live at a house on Terrace Road were in good condition and taken inside during Tuesday night’s bitter cold.

Bucks County SPCA Officer Nikki Thompson said a veteran humane officer was sent to the home Tuesday during the day to check on the dogs after initial calls. The dogs appeared of healthy weight and had outdoor shelter packed with hay. While it might not be ideal conditions, Thompson said it satisfied the authorities and the law.
A Tuesday evening social media post from a neighbor reported the dogs were close to death. From there, people around the area began organizing to help the dogs. A police source confirms numerous calls about the dogs from around the county were received by dispatch.
Thompson said it is believed the neighbor posted the message on social media to “raise some hair.”

The dogs were brought in before the worst of the cold hit Tuesday night, Middletown Animal Control Officer Cecilia Middleton said. “The police were called and dogs were brought inside,” she said.
All the dogs were “hunting dogs,” Middleton said. Thompson said the dogs are usually kept outside.

The Bucks County SPCA is aware of the home and have been out at the home several times over the past years. The owners have complied with suggestions previously provided by the SPCA officials, Thompson said.
