From Visit Bucks County:
Marshal Davis, President and Coach of Liberty Fencing Club and the tournament’s local representative says that Bucks County was an obvious choice for the 2015 tournament because of the area’s proximity to many collegiate fencing organizations and prime location off major highways. Davis also said that the tournament liked the idea of having local support from an active fencing club in the area [Liberty Fencing Club in Warrington] and from Visit Bucks County to streamline processes and manage relationships with area hotels. Liberty Fencing Club will team up with the Swarthmore College Fencing Team (which is coached by Davis) to host the event off-campus at The Sportsplex, due to the need for a large facility and local hotels and restaurants to accommodate the volume of athletes, coaches, referees, officials, parents and fans.
The fencing championship is expected to result in 800 hotel room night, which will bring additional cash flow to the region.
According to data, there are dozens of NCAA-sanctioned fencing teams throughout the nation’s college and many are co-ed.
