Lane restrictions start this week along I-95 from Middletown into Philadelphia.

Starting Monday, alternating northbound or southbound lane closures will be in place periodically from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on I-95 between the Route 1 exit in Middletown and Academy Road in Philadelphia for installation of intelligent transportation system equipment, PennDOT says. The closures will take place from Monday until Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, I-95 will be reduced to two lanes periodically north of the Street Road exit in Bensalem Township for intelligent transportation system equipment.

All of the work is weather dependent.

PennDOT reports the intelligent transportation system equipment work is being completed under a $39 million contract with Philadelphia-based contractor  James J. Anderson Construction. The work is all part of $251 million allotted to improve area highways.
