Police Officer Suffers Knee Injury at Croydon Fire

A house fire on the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue in Bristol Township’s Croydon section was knocked down Friday by firefighters from multiple companies.

Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said first responders were dispatched to the fire at 11:10 a.m and that no one was home at the time of fire.

The flames were located in ย the kitchen and there was significant heat and smoke damage throughout ย the home, ย the fire marshal said.

Heavy smoke was showing from the back of the dwelling on the second floor, witnesses reported to LevittowNow.com.

Officials on scene reported a police officer sufferer a knee injury at the fire. no word at time of publication about the severity of the injury.

Croydon Fire Chief, Tom Tryon, saw the smoke from the other side of Bristol Pike and raced over to the scene to aid first responders with putting out the fire in his mailman’s uniform.

Tryon said when he arrived he saw flames from the back ย of ย second floor bedroom and kitchen.

Dippolito said the possible cause of the fire was a space heater in the kitchen, however he’s continuing with his ย investigation with no final determination as of yet.

PECO was on scene to shut down power to the home as officials started to investigate. The Red Cross isย ย assisting residents with housing.

Fire companies from Croydon, Third District, Union, Cornwells, Eddington, Newportville, and Goodwill, as well as the Bucks County Rescue squad and Bristol Township police responded to the call.
