A young man accused of stabbing his “best friend” in the back and right eye, causing him to lose the ability to see out of it, had all charges forwarded to trial on Tuesday.
Demetrius Shivers, 16, of Green Lane in Bristol Township, had charges of aggravated assault, three counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering anther person and possessing an instrument of crime moved to common pleas court in Doylestown by District Judge Joanne Kline following testimony by the victim and a detective during a preliminary hearing.

Winston Williams Jr. of Croydon told the court Shivers lured him to a wooded area near Beaver Dam Road and said they were going to meet girls on September 11. The young man then said he heard the way Shivers was talking on his cell phone and knew he wasn’t talking to girls. Moments later as Williams had his back turned to walk away while Shivers said he was urinating, the 16-year-old, who was charged as an adult, jumped on his back and began attacking him.
“It felt like punches,” Williams said of the knife jabs, at least two to his shoulder and one to the right eye. “I didn’t notice I was bleeding until I got into the light.”
“Why would you do this to me, bro?” Williams said he asked Shivers. The two met at Harry S. Truman High School – Shivers a freshman and Williams a senior.

Shivers fled after the stabbing and Williams, who he called his “brother” previous to the stabbing, staggered to the Days Inn on Route 13. Police and medics responded after getting a call.
Detective Doug Slemmer testified there was a large blood trail leading from the hotel to the site of the stabbing. Nearby, Slemmer said a bloody “shank,” which is a homemade blade, concealed in a banana was found.

Police picked up Shivers the next morning at his father’s apartment and took him in for questioning. He admitted to stabbing his friend, Slemmer said, and added that Shivers said the two crossed the Turnpike and were off Beaver Dam Road to meet with some residents of the Veince Ashby neighborhood to smooth out problems they had with Williams.
Shivers is currently being held in county jail on 10 percent of $150,000.
