Man Struck by Car Passes Away

Bristol Township police traffic investigators are still working to piece together the crash that lead to the death of a 53-year-old man from Levittown.

He was struck by a green 1997 Ford Explorer driven by a 47-year-old Levittown man. Despite being taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown by the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

The crash happened nine minutes before 8 p.m. as the man crossed the westbound lane of Emilie Road (toward Indian Creek) just past Woerner Avenue.

A resident of the nearby the Goldenridge section said she heard a thump and police flooded the area and closed the road a few minutes later.

Beer cans that were part of a pack the man was carrying at the time he was struck littered the roadway along with the man’s sneaker and hat, bystanders said.

Sgt. Chuck Burns told LevittownNow.com the preliminary investigation shows the pedestrian may be at fault.

Bristol Township Fire Police volunteers closed down a portion of Emilie Road until 11:17 p.m.
