Update: Monday, 8:31 p.m.:

Police detectives continue to process the scene at the Avalon Court Apartments in the Levittown section of Bristol Township where a young mother and  her daughter were found dead. The mother died as a result of  stab wounds and a young girl taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead of injuries that have not been released, law enforcement sources say.

Police officials at the scene have not released any new information as of 8 p.m., but previously confirmed the death of the two and said the investigation was ongoing.

Family members of the victims tearfully arrived at the scene and spoke with authorities.

One friend remembered the young woman as a “caring” mother who was several months pregnant. The pregnancy was confirmed by two family members at the scene.

Family and friends confirmed the victims to be Ebony Talley, 22, and R’Mani, 4.

Detectives and fire investigators from Bristol Township were joined by county detectives at the complex, which was lit by large police vehicles and fire trucks.

The scene was described to a source by a first responder as “violent.”

A friend of the victim said she lived in the Avalon Court Apartments. He did note that the apartment in the 600 building, though, was not where she resided.

The bodies were discovered when fire crews responded to the apartment fire on the ground-floor of the building. Officials radioed fears that residents were trapped in the apartment at the time.

Video exclusively obtained by LevittownNow.com shows white smoke pouring from an apartment on the ground floor. Investigators are aware of the video and have viewed it, sources say.

The fire was quickly put out and police were able to start their investigation.

The local Red Cross is helping six people displaced by the fire, a spokesman said.

A young girl and an adult are dead following an incident that remains under investigation in Bristol Township, police sources confirm.

A police official confirmed the two are dead and said a large investigation is ongoing at the Avalon Court Apartments in the Levittown section after a fire Monday.

Officials on the scene said they could not comment further on the deaths and cited the ongoing investigation. “It’s going to be several hours,” Lt. Terry Hughes said.

Unconfirmed reports indicate at least one of the victims suffered what appeared to be stab wounds.

Fire crews were called to the apartment complex on Bristol-Oxford Valley Road at around 3:30 p.m. They arrived to find heavy smoke conditions and were able to contain the blaze in a few minutes.

Emergency radio reports indicated that people may have been trapped and a short time later it was confirmed at least one person was found dead.

Firefighters placed tarp over several windows on the ground floor of the 600 section of the apartment complex as detectives interviewed complex residents.

One female resident said the fire appeared to be concentrated on the ground floor but extended up the building. An elderly man said he saw a little girl who appeared to be injured.

A video from a man who was in the courtyard of the apartment complex showed heavy white smoke pouring from a ground-floor window.

Investigators from several area agencies are expected to be on scene throughout the evening. Lighting was set up by firefighters.
