Cops Say Slow Down After High Schooler Struck By Car

A 15-year-old Pennsbury High School student was struck by a car Monday afternoon in Falls Township.

The teen was crossing New Falls Road when he was struck at about about 4:30 p.m.. Lt. Hank Ward said the teen was not walking in a marked pedestrian crossing zone, which are covered by crossing guards, and the car was coming out of a convenience store.

The teen suffered minor cuts and bruises. Police report the impact speed was low.

“We would like to remind all students to cross New Falls Road at the cross walk and at the direction of the crossing guard provided,” Ward said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that over 4,200 pedestrians were killed when they were struck by vehicles in 2010. Among many distracted drivers and pedestrian have become a concern in recent years.
