Arson Forces Relocation of Polling Place

Due to last month’s arson fire at the Magic Cottage learning center on Appletree Drive in Bristol Township’s Levittown section, all polls at the former elementary school will be moved to George Washington Elementary School at 275 Crabtree Drive.

The changed was announced after the Bucks County Board of Elections met in Dolyestown Tuesday. County commissioners Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, Robert G. Loughery and Charles Martin unanimously voted to approve the relocation of the Bristol Township 9-1 polling place.

A statement from the county calls the move “temporary.”

The fire was ruled an arson and no charges have yet to be filed in the case.

Firefighters were called to the former elementary school at at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 after receiving numerous calls. The fire reached at least two alarms and was put under control after about an hour. Firefighters trenched the roof, where burning foam and rubber, to stop the spread of the blaze. Two firefighters were hurt fighting the fire.
