Nearly everyone dresses up for their internship. Not all of them in banana and pea pod costumes, however.

Pennsbury School District food service provider Metz Culinary Management dietetic intern Felicia Porrazza did this week. The Bensalem resident did it all in the name of healthy eating and education.

Porrazza dressed up as a pea pod Tuesday and a giant banana on Thursday at Fallsington Elementary in Falls to help teach the young students about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. The lunch-time lessons were all part of Metz’s celebration of National School Lunch Week.

Students were treated to easy recipes, trivia games, quick lessons and games designed to spotlight the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.

“We’re doing this to get the kids really excited about fruits and vegetables,” Porrazza said Thursday at lunch time. “They’ve been really excited so far.”

While Porrazza was only assigned to Fallsington, all of the district’s schools participated in National School Lunch Week and offered more healthy choices.
