Bristol Borough will take center stage again Saturday as the borough holds its 37th annual Historic Bristol Day event with many planning to come out.
This year’s theme is the importance and history of the Delaware Canal to the community founded in 1681.

Sponsored by the Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation, the celebration of the rich history of the borough will offer a little something for everyone to enjoy Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
Radcliffe Street will host a number of vendors while a number of children’sย activities ย will be offered at ย Snyder-Girotti Elementary School free of charge.

Featured this year are staple opportunities such as ย open houses, a riverfront tea, walking tours, an interpretive bike tour, entertainment, car show, art show, sailboat regatta, children’s corner, exhibits & lectures, vendors, food court, and shuttle service between the Wharf and major points of interest, the BCHF website says.

There is also the ย second annual sailing regatta ย and second annual car show for the community to venture out to.
As part of all activities offered, ย a crowning jewel moment of sorts on will take place Mill Street and Old Rt 13 as a blue ribbon cutting/ground breaking ceremony for work on the Mill Street Crossing will get underway. ย Viewed as a “gateway” to the business district a number of ย local business owners have banded together to create what many hope to be a community gathering point.

The buzz about the borough and the work of council, private citizens, and organizations linking together has created ย a sense of momentum residents are picking up on now which is coming off ย the heels of the Doo Wop concert, Italian Culture Day and alike.
An intriguing new feature to this year’s celebration isย free buggy rides alongย the can beginning ย at the Amishย Market on Green Lane, the BCHF website says.ย
Saturday Bristol will celebrate its history focusing on a waterway passage that ย helped create a thriving community and simultaneously celebrate its future that intersects with another important waterway at the end of Mill Street where the Delaware Canal once began.
