Authorities in Middletown are investigating three burglaries that have happened since last week.

The first happened last Friday between morning and early afternoon on Long Loop Road. Cash, jewelry and a laptop computer, together valued at over $6,000, were stolen, police said.

Then, Resurrection Lutheran Church on Oxford Valley Road was broken into Saturday at 10:29 a.m. Police report that entry was made into the basement through a window the suspect smashed, but nothing was reported missing.

During the day Monday, a home on Jasmine Road was burglarized. After entering the rear window, the suspect rifled through jewelry boxes, police said. As of press time, it is unclear what may have been stolen.

Police have not yet released any information to link the three incidents.

Township officials in September announced that residential burglaries were down 62 percent since last year. They credited extra vigilance and residents securing their homes.

Here are some tips officials have provided to homeowners:

  • Report any suspicious behavior in your neighborhood by calling the Police.
  • If you witness a burglary in progress call 911.
  • Audible alarm systems can deter a burglar attempting to enter your home.
  • Make sure your home’s windows and doors are secured and have working locks.
