Car Hits Building, Ruptures Gas Line

A VW Jetta slammed into the corner of an empty business in Bellevue Avenue in Hulmeville Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle was not reported to be hurt.

The vehicle struck a PECO natural gas line that is located at or near the light blue building, which is currently unoccupied, at around 2:30 p.m., according to scanner reports and neighbors.

PECO workers responded to the scene along with area fire crews and Pennsylvania State Police. Fire police closed the roads around the accident scene.

As of press time there was no word on what caused the accident.
