For American Airlines pilot John Widtfeldt, September 11 at the Garden of Reflection memorial was a solemn day.
The memorial honors the thousands who lost their lives during the horrific attacks on September 11, 2001, some of them airline pilots and stewards.

“This has become an annual event for airlines pilots to mark,” Widtfeldt said. “We come here with sorrow.”
As Widtfeldt put it, the memorial is a special place for those whole take to the skies as part of their job.
Widtfeldt has worked for American Airlines for 24 years and formerly lived in Yardley. Although he lives out of area now, he said coming to the Garden of Reflection was something he needed to do.

In his pilot’s uniform, watched the moving morning ceremony that marked the times of the airline hijackings and subsequent crashes.
