Video of LADEE Rocket from Bristol Wharf

Thousands came out to watch the streaking orange-red flames rise into sky last night as theย The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) took off from Wallops Island, Va. at 11:27 p.m. Friday night.

Theย unmanned, robotic mission will be collecting ย information on the atmosphere of the moon. “Awesome” was the word most often used by commenters on LevittowNow’s Facebook page to describe to the ascending rocket racing into the darkened sky.
