Croydon Boyfriend Stomps Girlfriend, Slams Son Into Wall During Domestic Assault, Cops Say

A Croydon man assaulted his girlfriend and their son late Saturday night, police said.

The assault, which led officers to be called to the 1900 block of Maple Avenue late Saturday night, according to court records, culminating in the victim requiringย ย treatment ย at Lower Bucks Hospital for stomach pain and a laceration allegedly caused by boyfriend Matthew ย Thompson, 44, of Croydon, the victim told authorities.

Officers spoke with the ย young son of the defendant and victim, and he told police that he saw his “father beating up” his mother, police said. The son tried to stop the fight but his father threw him against a wall several times. Subsequently punching him in the jaw with an “uppercut,” causing a laceration and bruising to his forearm, court documents say.

The son also told police he saw his dad throw his mother to the ground and kick her in the ribs several times, court records say.

Thompson was charged with four counts of simple assault and related offenses. He was sent to Bucks County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000.ย ย Bail was reduced to $5000.00 on September 4 according to online court records but he remains in jail.

Tompson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in on October 2 at 9:30 a.m.
