2 Hurt in Head-On Crash in Middletown


An accident involving several vehicles along Langhorne-Newtown Road (Route 413) in Middletown Tuesday afternoon sent two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened when a Toyota Camry traveling south on Langhorne-Newtown Road struck several cars that were stopped near the intersection of Summit Trace. The crash caused the Toyota to veer into oncoming traffic where it struck a black Honda head-on, Officer Michael Stum said.

The serious accident required the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company and Newtown Fire Association crews to assist police and medics in freeing two people that were trapped in the vehicles that hit collided head-on.

Two people were taken by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center, which is less than a mile away.

Emergency crews closed a portion of Langhorne-Newtown Road (Route 413) until about 1:45 p.m.

In June, a 70-year-old Bensalem woman was killed just up the street when police say they believe she suffered a medical ailment and struck a dump truck.
