Woman Killed in 413 Crash

Police said a 70-year-old woman died after her car ended up colliding with a dump truck and trailer along Newtown-Langhorne Road (Route 413) just before the Newtown Bypass in Middletown Township Tuesday morning.

Patricia Czarnecki of Bensalem suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at St. Mary Medical Center down the street, police said.

Authorities said in a press released that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, but that Czarnecki may have suffered a medical ailment prior to the wreck.

Czarnecki’s 2011 Honda Civic left the roadway for an “unknown reason,” according to police, and hit a pole. The car then directed slid across the road and ended up in a collision with a 2001 Mack dump truck and trailer, which was operated by a 52-year-old man from Dallastown, police said.

Investigation revealed the truck was stopped at the red light at the intersection at the Newtown Bypass, a press release stated. The 52-year-old driver was unhurt.

Emergency radio reports indicated that Middletown and Newtown authorities responded to the scene.

Newtown-Langhorne Road was closed for more than an hour as police investigated the accident.
