On a day marked to fund-raise for the Racquet Club fire victims, a fire of seemingly smaller proportions impacted the lives of a Cobalt Ridge family late this afternoon.
The fire broke out shortly before 4 p.m. at 22 Curry Hill Road in the Cobalt Ridge section of Levittown.ย The William Penn Fire Department of Levittown and Hulmeville responded shortly after 4 p.m. and two additional trucks were called moments later.

The fire began when the homeowner, who was repairing some plumbing work with a torch, saw the torch catch with the insulation located in the bathroom on the second floor. The fire shot up the wall and while impacting the roof, remained isolated to the bathroom, according to Ken Richards of the Fire Marshall’s Office.
The fire was quickly placed under control and extinguished by 4:30 p.m. and the additional firetrucks called were seen leaving the block shortly after 4:45 p.m.
The family was able to vacate the house quickly and no injuries were reported throughout the progression of the fire by either the family or the William Penn Fire Department.
