Man Steals Neighbor’s Underwear, Leaves KY Lube, Cops Say

Paul Freitag’s burglary charge isn’t  your run of the mill of the burglary and theft. According to police, the 68-year-old Timothy Lane resident is accused of stealing his neighbor’s underwear and leaving her two tubes of KY lubricating personal jelly.

On Saturday, Falls Township police were dispatched to Timothy lane to take a complaint report. One can assume, the officer was surprised by the situation that played out.

A female resident of Timothy Lane arrived home at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday and saw a shadow in the kitchen. She then heard the sliding glass door open and saw Freitag, her neighbor across the street, in her back yard, police said. She told authorities she asked him what he was doing; he said he saw a young “kid” go into her house and was making sure everything was okay, according to court papers.

The woman told police she still had questions about her 68-year-old neighbor’s story, but lead him through the house to the front.

Later, the woman and her husband checked and could not find anything missing, police said.

The couple then walked over to Freitag’s house that evening and he told them a similar story, one they found questionable, police said. Court documents show that Freitag told the couple he left the house out the back door because he was scared when the woman arrived home.

Freitag’s wife and the woman met a short time later, according to police, and spoke in person. Freitag’s wife began crying and was visibly upset and said her husband admitted to being in the home, police said. The distraught wife of Freitag said her husband admitted to going through the female neighbor’s room and going through her items, according to court papers.

The woman asked Freitag’s wife if her husband mentioned anything about leaving two tubes of  KY lubricating personal jelly in the bedroom several months ago. Freitag’s wife said no, according to police.

The alleged victim and her husband looked on the side of their house later in the evening after a photograph was noticed missing from their bedroom. Instead of the photograph, police said the couple found a pair of yellow underwear that belonged to the woman.

The woman said she may have seen the underwear in Freitag’s hand for a period of time after she walked in on him inside the house last Friday, according to police.

Freitag’s wife then informed her neighbors her husband had went to Lancaster to be with his son and planned to seek treatment from medical professional, court documents said. The woman then told Freitag’s wife she doesn’t care what the man’s plans are, as long as he is out of the area, police said.

The woman later called police to file a report and the couple filed statements.

Freitag turned himself in to police Sunday morning.

“I’m guilty as charged, and I’m here to turn myself in,” Freitag is quoted in court papers as saying when he turned himself in.

During an interview with investigators, the 68-year-old said he went into his neighbors’ house about a dozen times, police said. He added that he went through her underwear draw and took the pair she found later, according to court papers.

Officials asked Freitag why he left the two tubes of KY Lube for his neighbors. His reply: “I don’t know, I figured she might want to use it.”

Freitag was charged with burglary, theft and defiant trespass. He was arraigned Sunday before on-call District Judge John Waltman and sent to jail on 10 percent of $20,000 bail.
