DAV # 117 is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of disabled American veterans. As of May 2013, DAV # 117 changed leadership.

The new Commander is now Angelo DePalma. Currently it operates under an entirely new leadership team and is pressing forward to better serve disabled veterans and the community atย large. New members are always welcome.
DAV # 117 provides food, clothing, furniture and various household items to veterans in need. During the holidays, its members prepare and distribute holiday baskets and gifts for local families in need. Medical devices, transportation, counseling and referral services are provided to veterans in need of such assistance. Community members experiencing true hardship are also provided with items such as clothing and furniture on an as-needed basis. DAV # 117 opens its doors on a bi-monthly basis for meetings and special events held on behalf of mentally challenged adults to support community involvement.
The on-site thrift shop offers new and used clothing as well as various items (new and used) for home use. Some of the items include carpets, paintings, glassware, childrenโs toys, etc. Funds derived from the thrift shopโs operations are used to maintain and facility and run its daily operations. DAV # 117 is qualified as a 501 c (4) operation. RSVP currently has a number of volunteers working on site on a daily basis and more are needed. Able-bodied individuals (men and women) are always needed to assist in organizing the thrift center as well as for picking and up delivering items being donated or sold.
