KoVu’s owners hoped he escaped the raging four-alarm at the Racquet Club Apartments in Middletown. Sadly, news came on Wednesday that the cat found was dead in a fire-damage apartment.
The cat was found in the closet of an apartment in the B building, where it is believed he succumbed to smoke inhalation, according to the Red Paw Relief Team.

“Hopefully he did not suffer and the family can now have some closure,” a post on the group’s Facebook page said.
Members of the Red Paw Relief Team put out traps around the apartment complex after the fire. The family who owned the cat held out hope the feline had escaped during the blaze, which destroyed 43 units.
