With dark, puffy clouds ahead and vehicles speeding their way- John “JJ” Rearick’s family and friends raced across New Falls Road and gathered along side his memorial site Sunday, to take part in an intimate memorial service, one year since his tragic death as the victim of a hit-and run.
They held hands as they each spoke a personal message to Rearick, while trying to fight back inconsolable tears.

Sharon Rearick, “JJ’s”mother and guiding force behind a coalition of community members who are fighting to have safe walkways for pedestrians installed on what’s been called one of the most dangerous roads in Bucks County by officials, shared some thoughts before all of the group arrived.
“I realized today for the first time there isn’t even a sign directing or warning the public of where they should walk its no wonder my son hasn’t been the only fatality on this road,” shaking her head, Rearick, said.

“We’ve really tried to go about this the proper way in terms of gaining support from a number of state and local officials but the process has been slow and from here in Middletown to Bensalem and points in between the public is at risk. And that has to change sooner rather than later,” she said.
The group closed the solemn ceremony with the “Our Father” prayer stepping back on to the very road that has been a part of number of tragic accidents where pedestrians are often at risk.
