While alcoholic beverages can be served during events occurringย at Westabyย Hall, they must be brought in by those who are renting the space, and cannot be supplied or provided by the Fairless Hills Volunteer Fire Department. They are looking to change that.
“Our budget exceeds what is allocated from taxes,” Tony Montonario, Assistant Chief for the Fairlessย Hills Volunteer Fire Department said. “At this point whatever we can do – anything will help.” Currently, 35% of the fire departments funds are received through taxes, while 65% is generated through various fundraising efforts – like the use of Westaby Hall.
On Tuesday, volunteer firefighters from the local establishment gathered at the Falls Township public meeting hall and voiced their idea to the board of supervisors. The plan, which was agreed on unanimously by the board approved the transfer of a liquor license – allowing Westaby Hall to increase revenue by supplying alcohol directly to those who rent and attend its functions.
