A police investigation revealed Reuther was “traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve in the road,” according to a press release. Police said he then hit a curb and a road sign before landing in a wooded area in the area of Vermilion Drive and Vicar Lane at around 9 p.m Monday.

Reuther was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad transported Reuther to St. Mary Medical Center, where police say he died. However, family and friends say he remained on life-support as of 8 a.m. Tuesday.

There are conflicting reports as to whether the victim passed away from his injuries, as the Bucks County Courier Times has reported. Several friends and family members of the victim – a Falls Township man in his 30s – stated early Tuesday morning that he remains on life-support at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown.

Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad Chief Chris Reif confirmed that his squad did respond to the accident scene in Vermilion Hills late Monday night.

Police are expected to release more information this evening.
