The cause of the surge remains under investigation and Yemenijian said she could not comment further on the matter.
Several residents reported damage to electronics following the surge, which mainly impacted Snowball Gate residents.

The power problems caused about 20 small “fire related incidents” mainly throughout Snowball Gate, Middletown Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said.
McGuire said the power problem, which was a surge, caused damage to light switches, power strips and air conditioning units. A treadmill fire connected to the utility issues was reported in Cobalt Ridge, he added.

No injuries connected to the fire incidents were reported.
The driver of the car that struck the pole was extricated by firefighters and transported to an area hospital in unknown condition, officials said.
Around the time the car struck the pole on Durham Road, a wire went down on Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, McGuire said.

A PECO employee at the scene said the two incidents were likely connected.

A car accident just after 10 a.m. caused numerous power problems throughout the Levittown area Wednesday morning and early afternoon.

The power outage, which PECO says is impacting 4,370 customers in Bristol and Middtown townships, was caused after a car struck a pole on Durham Road by the Racquet Club Apartments.
According to scanner reports, the accident required fire and ambulance crews to respond.

PECO spokeswoman Debra Yemenijian said crews are expected to have power restored sometime in the afternoon.
Middletown police said to avoid Durham Road between New Falls and Frosty Hollow Road due to the issues stemming from the incident.
Fire crews responded to Cobalt Ridge and Snowball Gate in Middletown for reports of smoke in several homes following the outage. An official said the incidents were connected to the power outage.

No word from police on injuries or what caused the crash.
During the outage, temperatures in the area were close to 90 degrees.
