Monday, 5:27 p.m.:

Middletown Township Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said 29 children were transported to St. Mary Medical following the bus accident. The elementary-aged kids were taken by both ambulance and another bus.

No serious injuries were reported.

The bus was chartered by a day camp and was heading from BouceU in Middletown to an unknown location, McGuire told LevittownNow.com.

PennDOT reported that I-95 southbound reopened shortly after 5 p.m.

A yellow school bus careened off I-95 in Middletown Township just before the Levittown-Penndel exit at around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

There were reports of multiple injuries among passengers on the school bus, according to scanner reports. It is unclear as to the ages of the victims or the extent of the injuries.

As of 4:30 p.m., all southbound lanes of the highway were closed and the northbound lanes were slowly getting by the scene.

The Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, Penndel-Middletown Rescue Squad along with state and Middletown police were at the scene.

The bus appeared to have careened off the highway and struck the steel cable guardrail that runs along the median.

Drivers stuck in the southbound delays were spotted outside of their vehicles and talking to one another.
