Route 1 Crash Causes Delays

An accident in the construction zone on Route 1 in Middletown Township caused delays on the busy roadway during Tuesday morning’s commute.

Police responded to Route 1 in the area of Maple Avenue (Route 213) for a car involved in an accident at around 9:15 a.m. Emergency reports indicated there may have been injuries.

The crash appeared to be in the northbound lanes.

According to police, the crash was expected to have caused delays and traffic backups. The department suggested motorist use I-95 or Lincoln Highway as alternates.

As of 9:30 a.m., police and a tow truck were on the scene and one lane of traffic was getting by.
