The search for where to house school buses that will be used to transport Bristol Township School District students continues.
Superintendent Dr. Samuel Lee said Tuesday evening the district is currently “weighing our options.”

As the upcoming school year approaches, buses operated by new district transportation contractor Student Transportation of America (STA) are currently being housed at the former Ben Franklin School on Mill Creek Road, which is home to several programs for youth and the district administration.
Several options that would keep the buses housed on district property are being considered because they are most cost effective, Lee said. The district is currently working to fill a multi-million dollar budget shortfall.
The superintendent said the district has negotiated for the Green Lane depot that former transportation contractor First Student occupied. He said the district and the landlord of the property have not been able to reach an agreement.

A location for the new bus depot was supposed to be voted on earlier this month. However, that vote was pushed back and has not yet been rescheduled.
In winter, the district opted not to re-sign with First Student after the two sides could not come agreeable financial terms, officials said previously.

Early in the 2012-2013 school year, the district was marred with complaints from parents about a change in bus routes. The then-transportation director took much of the criticism and left her job only months in for a new opportunity.
STA will serve the district with 70 to 80 all new, propane-fueled buses. Lee said some of the new buses are expected to arrive in the next few weeks.
