Ashes placed in a trashcan caused a fire that wrecked a two-story detached garage in the 1100 block of Frosty Hollow Road in Middletown Township’s Levittown section on Thursday night.
The homeowner had opening burning, which is against township ordinance, on his property earlier in the evening and put those ashes into a trashcan in the garage, Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said.

McGuire told LevittownNow.com that the man will not be facing any charges in relation to open burning. However, he said the man received a warning and a fire-damaged garage.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the garage at around 7:30 p.m. and found fire inside the garage, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
