
In a move that was expected by many, the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers voted to not accept the school board’s latest contract offer, Board President Richie Webb said late Thursday evening.
“I’m not surprised that the motion failed,” Webb said, citing information he received prior to the vote.

He said he had an unconfirmed reports that 75 percent of NFT members showed to the meeting. He said that was good attendance for a meeting that was announced on such short notice.
The school board president shot down rumors that if the contract proposal was approved class sizes could grow to approximately 40 students. Webb said several teachers called to asked him about that and he told them that was “just untrue.”

The school board previously set May 22 at the deadline for the NFT to vote on the current contract offer or lose this year’s pay raise and push negotiations off. Webb said that deadline still stands.
A NFT spokesman said Thursday afternoon that the union membership approving the contract offer was not likely.
