Home Economics Classes Could be Cut

Family and consumer science classes could be cut from Neshaminy School District’s middle schools as the administration looks to next year’s budget, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

Teachers in the Family and Consumer Science Department told the school board recently that the classes teach students valuable lessons that they can not learn in other courses, according to the article.

Classes like those being talked about getting cut at the middle schools teach students proper food preparation, early childhood development, personal finances and many other topics students will need as they move into adulthood.

In recent years, family and consumer science classes have been a target of school systems across the nation.
